Asian Facial Procedures in Tampa, FL

Dr. Mang and his expert team are dedicated to enhancing facial features of Asian women, and ultimately helping them feel and look their very best. Mang Plastic Surgery is one of the most successful cosmetic rejuvenation centers for Asian facial procedures in the Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida, areas. Dr. Mang embarked on his journey to become an expert in the field of Asian facial surgery through extensive training and education. Born in Vietnam, Dr. Mang truly understands the anatomy of people who are of Asian descent and can help them to properly enhance their facial features and rejuvenate their skin.

Dr. Mang offers Asian facial procedures to rejuvenate the face through both surgical and non-surgical procedures. Some of the unique characteristics of the Asian face include a flatter facial skeleton with heavier tissues and thicker skin. There is a larger accumulation of fat in the lower face and neck area, which can sag from aging causing jowls. Though Asian women will wrinkle less due to having denser skin, that denser skin will cause more dropping as the woman ages. Dr. Mang is very conscious of the specific needs of Asian women, including how to properly maintain the skin after surgery. Patients of Asian decent require different skin creams to keep the skin hydrated. Also, when laser don’t provide the desired results, PRP, nanofat treatments tend to work well and respond to the thickness of Asian skin.

Dr. Mang offers several surgery options for Asian men and women, such as:

Asian Facelift

When performing a facelift it is important to understand the underlying structures of the face. Different ethnicities have different needs. People of Asian decent tend to have different skin texture which requires a different technique of going deeper into the skin. This technique is important as the facial skin is denser and heavier. The thickness of the skin helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkling. Therefore, Dr. Mang will focus on drooping muscles of the aging face and neck. It is important to support the thicker and heavier tissues of an Asian face to create a more rejuvenated appearance that will yield long-lasting results. The deeper the approach to the facelift, the better access to the buccal fat pads of the cheeks which are larger in the Asian face. These buccal fat pads will need to be reduced to create a younger, brighter, more rejuvenated look. Additional neck fat can also be contoured through the deep plane approach.

Asian Blepharoplasty

To properly preform blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), it is critical to understand the structure of Asian eyes. Dr. Mang has studied the difference between the eyes, forehead, and skin of individuals of Asian descent to those of Caucasians. Asian blepharoplasty, also known as double-eyelid surgery, works to place a pretarsal crease in Asian eyes where there is no fold. Patients typically desire to have their eyes widened to create a more uplifted appearance. Dr. Mang has preformed countless blepharoplasty for people of Asian descent and is an expert in this field.

Asian Rhinoplasty

Similar to the eyes, the skin, and the face shape, there is a specific art to reshaping the nose of an individual of Asian decent. Dr. Mang has studied the facial bone structure of this ethnicity for many years and has practiced how to achieve incredible results for Asian men and women. Dr. Mang concentrates on enhancing the features that the patient wants to target without removing the uniqueness of an Asian nose. Typically, Asian rhinoplasty involves making the nose appear longer by adding a bridge so that it is well-balanced with the other facial features. Asian rhinoplasty may also include slimming the width of the nose.

It is important to understand that a person’s ethnicity must be taken into consideration when surgery is involved. Surgery cannot be approached in the same way for Asian patients as it is for Caucasian patients. Dr. Brandon Mang is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed countless facial surgery procedures to help patients who want to improve their appearance.

Review With Dr. Mang

  • Stop smoking. It is important to discontinue the use of cigarettes and other nicotine products as they constrict blood vessels and slow the healing and recovery process.
  • Avoid alcohol. This is not long term, but alcohol use should be discontinued for at least two weeks before surgery and two weeks after surgery.
  • Vitamins and other OTC drugs. Discontinue the use of these for at least two weeks before surgery.
  • Pain medication. Dr. Mang may prescribe you pain medication to alleviate any discomfort. It is important to fill these prior to surgery and bring them to the procedure.
  • Drink water. Water is a very helpful tool both before and after surgery. It is important to drink plenty of water before surgery and after. Water helps flush out toxins.
  • Aspirin and Ibuprofen. Discontinue the use of both of these for at least two weeks before and after surgery. These products thin you blood and can interfere with your body’s ability to heal.
  • Getting home. After surgery driving is prohibited. Arrange for transportation home.

What To Expect After Surgery?

Work: Recovery takes time and it’s important that you’re patient with the process. Dr. Mang will review with you when you should return to work and normal activity. Discomfort: After the surgery some moderate discomfort can be expected. Pain medication prescribed by your surgeon can help minimize the discomfort. However, if discomfort persists, contact your surgeon immediately.

Recovery: The recovery after a facelift procedure takes about three to four weeks. Bruising and mild swelling may also occur but usually diminishes within one to two weeks.

Results: Each patient heals and scars differently. It is vital to keep in mind that the results of these procedures vary from patient to patient. However, most patients will enjoy their final results within six to 12 months.
