Botox® in Atlanta, GA
One of the most commonly known dermal fillers on the market today, Botox® can help reverse the effects of aging in the face. Men and women who reside in Atlanta and Alpharetta, GA, can schedule an appointment with our medical director, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brandon Mang.
What is Botox®?
Botox® is a FDA-approved dermal injectable filler that is has proven effective in the treatment of loose, sagging skin. Botox® is also approved for the treatment of migraines, overactive bladder, and excessive perspiration. The filler is comprised of a substance known as Botulinum toxin type A, which works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles to smoothen wrinkles and tighten the skin. The formula is injected directly below the skin using an ultra-fine needle. While the results are not permanent, they can last up to six months with just one treatment.
Who Can Benefit From Botox® Injections?
Botox® may be right for you if you are searching for a non-surgical option to even out wrinkles caused by facial muscle movement. Botox® works by freezing those overworked muscles, allowing them to relax and flatten out the skin on the surface. Botox® can offer men and women highly effective results that can reduce or eliminate wrinkles, fine lines, creases, and loose sagging skin. Typically, Botox® is recommended for men or women between the ages of 30 to 65 that wish to reverse the effects of aging for a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
How Does the Botox® Procedure Work?
The injection process for Botox® is fairly simple and can be performed in-house at our Duluth office. No anesthesia is required, but patients may apply a topical numbing cream to help prevent any discomfort. The botulinum toxin formula is injected directly into the target areas using a fine-gauge needle. Overall, the entire procedure can take up to an hour and patients are free to leave the office once they are done. Over the next few weeks, the solution will work to block the signals from the nerves to your muscles, allowing your skin the ability to relax and wrinkles to virtually disappear.
How Should I Prepare for Botox®?
During your preliminary consultation, Dr. Mang and his team of licensed specialists will sit down with you to understand your medical history, any notable illness or injuries, and any recent procedures you have done. Typically, very little preparation needs to be done for a Botox® procedure. You may be required to temporarily suspend taking any medications, including over-the-counter or prescription medicines.
What to Expect After Botox®
Botox® is known as the original “lunchtime treatment” thanks to its ability to treat patients’ aesthetic concerns over their lunch break. You are free to return to work immediately following treatment.
You may experience minor swelling at the injection site following the procedure. Your skin may also feel tight or you may feel mild discomfort. Dr. Mang recommends applying arnica before and after your Botox® injections to help reduce swelling and any bruising.
The effects of Botox® will become visible in the coming weeks following your treatment. The final results will vary depending on the number of injections received and the extent of treatment required.
As we age, our body inevitably develops unwanted wrinkles and loses its youthful appeal. Botox® injections at Mang Plastic Surgery can help the men and women of Atlanta and Alpharetta reverse the effects of aging in the skin. Contact us today to schedule your facial filler consultation.
