Breast Augmentation in Atlanta, GA

Breast implants are one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery available today. At Mang Plastic Surgery, patients who reside in and around Atlanta and Alpharetta are invited to call us today to schedule a breast augmentation consultation with our medical director, Brandon-Dzung Mang, M.D.

What Can Be Achieved With Breast Implants?

Breast augmentation is a commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedure that can alter the volume, size, or shape of a woman’s breast. A boob job employs the use of silicone or saline implants, in addition to a number of advanced techniques. Breast implants can help to enhance the fullness and contour of your chest, as well as correct disproportionate sized breasts. Women who are self-conscious about the overall appearance of their boobs can achieve a result that looks and feels as natural as possible while helping to complement their overall figure and appearance.

How Involved in the Breast Augmentation Procedure?

At Mang Plastic Surgery, our breast augmentation procedures are performed under general anesthesia. The surgery can take anywhere from one to three hours. During your consultation and before your surgery, your surgeon will go over your procedure plan and help you understand what will occur. After learning about your medical history and realistic expectations, Dr. Mang will explain where your implants will be placed, either in front of or behind the pectoral muscle, known as subglandular or submuscular, respectively. Depending on the technique being used, incisions can be placed:

  • Inframammary, at the base of the breast
  • Periareolar, around the nipple
  • Transacillary, under the armpit
  • TUBA, above the belly

At Mang Plastic Surgery, your surgeon will take care to ensure your procedure is tailored to match your needs and help give you the natural-looking breasts.

Am I a Suitable Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

There are many reasons for a woman to consider breast augmentation. The procedure is recommended for women who wish for a fuller, more defined chest, or who want to correct unbalanced breasts. If you are an adult who is in good general health with realistic beauty goals and expectations, you may be suitable for a breast augmentation. Many women who have experienced pregnancy, childbirth, changes in weight, or breastfeeding have benefited from a breast implant procedure.

Breast Implant Removal

A breast implant removal may be performed for a number of reasons. In many cases, patients require a breast implant exchange (LINK). This is done to exchange the implant from silicone or saline as well as to alter the shape or size. In other cases, patients wish to have their implants completely removed due to medical, legal, or personal reasons. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon such as Dr. Mang, you can rest assured that you can successfully remove your implants while maintaining a natural-looking, attractive appearance.

Preparing for Breast Implant Surgery

Prior to undergoing surgery, you will be provided with instructions that should be followed to help you prepare for your procedure. During your initial consultation, you will be asked to disclose any relevant information, including your medical history and any vitamins, OTC medications, or prescriptions that you may be taking. Dr. Mang recommends all patients also include arnica topical creams into their daily regimen pre- and post-operatively.

Recovery Following Breast Augmentation

Patients who work non-strenuous jobs such as in an office may return to work within one to two weeks following surgery. If you work in a location that is high-activity, your doctor will advise how much time you should expect to take off.

In the first few days following the procedure, you will likely feel some discomfort and bruising in the breasts. Arnica is a natural herb that can be applied directly to the breasts to help with the inflammation. As the healing process commences, you will see the swelling go down.

It is normal to feel mild to moderate discomfort in the chest. You may be prescribed pain medication to help alleviate any tenderness. You may shower two or three days following the procedure, but take caution to make gentle movements, as the breasts may be sensitive to physical contact.

Immediately following your breast implant procedure, you will require some help around the house, as your movements will be very limited in the first few days. Your bandages will be removed after the first week and you will be given a surgical compression bra to wear. After a few weeks, once the swelling and discomfort have fully subsided, you will be able to return to your normal exercise and activity routine. The final result will be able to be fully enjoyed within six to 12 months following your surgery.
