What is the Goal of a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a cosmetic procedure that surgically tightens the thigh muscles and trims away loose flaccid skin as well as fatty deposits, resulting in a toned and defined contour of the thighs. As we age, it is common for muscle tissue to become weak and lax, and for the skin to become loose and saggy. A thigh lift tightens and tones the muscles of the thighs, and trims away excess fat and skin, producing tone and definition, which will make your thighs look younger and leaner. Your clothing will also fit better after this procedure, providing more comfort and a more flattering appearance, which also enhances your self-confidence.

Can I Get a Thigh Gap With Thigh Lift Surgery? How to Get a Thigh Gap?

Yes. If you’re tired of having the tops of your thighs rub together while you walk, it may be possible to alleviate that with a thigh lift. Many of our patients specifically request a thigh gap or a space that separates the tops of the thighs. Depending on the natural shape of your thighs, a thigh lift can typically define a gap between the tops of the thighs in most patients.

Who Makes An Ideal Candidate For A Thigh Lift?

Almost any healthy adult male or female who is not obese and maintains a stable weight may be an ideal candidate for a thigh lift. If you are still in the process of losing weight, we advise that you postpone this procedure until you are within 10-20 pounds of your ideal target weight, since losing additional weight may alter the results of your procedure. Dr. Mang can help you determine whether you are an ideal candidate for this procedure or whether an alternative treatment, such as liposuction might be more appropriate for you.

How Complicated is a Thigh Lift?

The thigh lift is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia; however, the procedure is simple and most patients experience no complications. During the surgery, the doctor extracts excess fat and skin using a hairline incision running from the groin down the inner thigh, followed by a liposuction treatment to re-sculpt and redefine the thighs. This procedure normally takes three to four hours to perform, and may be combined with other cosmetic procedures.

What Can I Expect after a Thigh Lift?

You may return to work after about a week, but you will require a full four weeks to recover. You may gradually resume your regular physical activities, including sexual activity, after this four-week period.

You will probably experience some inflammation and discomfort that may be managed by taking medication, and these symptoms normally subside gradually after a few days.

Dr. Mang will recommend that you wear a compression garment for three to four weeks to support the healing process and reduce swelling and discomfort. A thigh lift produces a very subtle hairline scar on the inside of each thigh that is barely visible when you stand normally. Over time, the scar will fade away gradually and become almost completely invisible.

The results of a thigh lift are usually permanent in patients who maintain a stable weight, a healthy diet, and a regular exercise regimen. Those who undergo dramatic weight gain or loss after the surgery may require follow-up treatment in the future.
